Gondal state was one of the eight first class huge states of Kathiawar Agency during Bombay Presidency, Details of Naulakha Palace.
The Naulakha Palace was erected around 1748 AD in the Darbargadh or walled palace complex of the rulers, and since then has been complete by successive rulers.
The oldest extant palace in Gondal, the 17th Century Naulakha palace is a festival of stone carvings with beautiful Jarokha balconies, a wonderful pillared stud courtyard, precisely carved arches and a unique spiral staircase.
The private palace museum has an inspiring display of silver caskets which carried messages and gifts for Maharajah Bhagwat Sinhji on hills silver jubilee as ruler of Gondal, one of the many golden caskets received by him on his 50th anniversary, the weighing scales on which he was deliberate against silver and gold on the respective anniversaries, and princely relics.
Visitors staying at the Riverside Palace or Orchard Palace are given a guided tour of the Naulakha Palace.
