The Famous Kutch Museum in Bhuj Gujarat History – Timing – Kutch Museum Online
Kutch Famous large museum was established by Maharao Khengarji 3 founded in 1877. This museum also known as Fergusson Museum. At time of Marriage of Maharaja new items were placed for exhibition. This 2 floor building cost Rs.32, 000. This museum is located Opp. of Hamirsar Lake, which is constructed in Italian Gothic style. This was designed by state engineer Mc Lelland and those local Builders known as the Mistris of Kutch.
The museum consisting the large collection of Kshatrapa inscriptions. This Kshatrapa are main attraction of this museum. The other section of Museum describes the tribal cultures, with examples of arts and crafts and information about the tribal group also with folk arts. Museum also exhibits the art paintings, arms, embroidery work and metal work examples.
On ground floor of Museum, the center room “Airavat” is displayed. The “Airavat” is a wooden carved; with snow white Indian Elephant of seven long pointed teeth. It was prepared in Mandavi in 18th century. This Airavat shows the worship of Tirthankar and rest of its body painted with flowers. This Airavat is the Treasure of Museum.
This is the Oldest Museum in Gujarat. This is like an online visiting museum like to take a walk through museum but on the Internet.

Closed: closed on 2nd and 4th Saturday
